Android tablets go rugged

Varlink is marketing a new range of Casio Android-based rugged tablets ? the V-T 500 series. They are designed for the retail market from the stock room to shop floor.

The range has a one-metre drop specification and an IP54 rating, allowing for the tablet to be used out in the field, and in challenging environments.

Tablets have a 10.1 inch screens and capacitive touch panels. There are s two cameras installed, both on the front and rear at five mega-pixels.

They are equipped with NFC reader/writers that can authenticate user login using a non-contact smart card, and also a secure access module slot for applications requiring a higher level of security control.
